The host of the NBC competition show "America’s Got Talent" is getting backlash after "whiting up" to promote his new album, the New York Daily News reports.

Nick Cannon, whose other job is rapper, put a photo of himself in whiteface on Instagram in connection with the upcoming release of "White People Party Music," the story reports.

"The rapper, who is married to singer Marah Carey, has been criticized as ‘racist,’ ‘ignorant’ and ‘hypocritical’ for the stunt," the piece reports.

Cannon also unveiled a new persona, "Connor Smallnut," in a series of videos, the report adds.

"Cannon, 33, sent social media sites into meltdown after sharing an Instagram snap of himself Sunday," the story reports.

Along with the image, which you can see below, Cannon reportedly included a message reading: "It’s official… I’m White!!! #WHITEPEOPLEPARTYMUSIC #Wppm in stores April 1st!!!!!!Dude Go Get It!!!Join The Party!!!!"

Cannon added: "#GoodCredit #DogKissing #BeerPong #FarmersMarkets #FistPumping #CreamCheeseEating #RacialDraft “Bro I got drafted!!"

Cannon responded to the furor by saying fans have taken the stunt too seriously. After receiving criticism he reportedly tweeted: ""Duuuude everybody Chil-lax!!!!" ~ Connor Smallnut’."

He later sent this message: "It’s funny how people take themselves so seriously. People love drama! We feed off of it. Just relax and have fun!!"

"To further illustrate his point, he then referred to Robert Downey Jr. — who donned blackface to play Kirk Lazarus in comedy war film ‘Tropic Thunder,’" the piece reports.

Cannon reportedly tweeted: "Shout out to @RobertDowneyJr This is one of my favorite characters of all time! Hilarious!!! There is a big difference between Humor and Hatred."
