An NBC News personality and a Weather Channel regular have signed on for a live special that will cover a historic Mount Everest stunt.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that NBC’s Willie Geist will host "Everest Jump Live," a two-hour program set for Discovery Channel. The Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore will be the chief meteorologist for the event.

The program will focus on climber Joby Ogwyn, who will try to become the first person to fly off the summit of Mount Everest in a wing suit.

Chris Jacobs and Kyle Martino will be providing live updates, the report notes.

"For ‘Everest Jump Live,’ Geist and Cantore will be based at a studio in New York designed specifically for the event, which Discovery said will incorporate the latest interactive technology and high-tech equipment," THR reports. "Jacobs and Martino will present live coverage from Everest."

Geist has been a part of this sort of program before. He "also gave the play-by-play account of Nik Wallenda’s tightrope walk over the Grand Canyon during Discovery’s live broadcast of the event last year," the report notes.

The event is set for May, when it will be televised live on the Discovery Channel in 224 countries and territories, the report notes.
