National Geographic Channel is bringing back the stars of a cult hit that went off the air in 1999, with the actors from “Mystery Science Theater 3000” returning to mock Nat Geo’s own programming, reports the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker.

The April 1 special is called “Total Riff Off” and will feature “MST3K” stars Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett as they poke fun of three hours of clips from the network’s shows.

“Mystery Science Theater 3000” gained fans for its mockery of cheesy science-fiction films. In the original show, the set-up was that the characters were imprisoned in a space station by an evil scientist and forced to watch bad movies, although they were free to poke fun at the films.

Nat Geo will provide the crew with clips from shows including “Honey Badgers,” “Swamp Men” and “Alpha Dogs,” the story notes. The event will be cut into three hour-long episodes with names such as “Killer Shrimp N’ Friends.”
