Actor-Comedian Known for Role on ‘Seinfeld’ Found Dead in Hotel Room

An actor and comedian who appeared on "Seinfeld" was found dead Saturday in a Pittsburgh hotel room. Deadline.com reports that John Pinette died after a pulmonary embolism, according to his manager. He was 50.

Pinette was treated for addiction to prescription drugs last year, the report notes.

Pinette guest-starred on the series finale of “Seinfeld," playing Howie, the victim of a mugging and carjacking. The incident is witnessed by Jerry Seinfeld and the rest of the series regulars, landing them in jail in violation of a Good Samaritan Law.

Pinette's film credits include movies such as “The Punisher” and “Reckless Kelly." On television, he had been a regular on “Parker Lewis Can’t Lose.” HIs comedy special “John Pinette: Still Hungry” debuted on Comedy Central in 2011.

He was currently touring and working on his next stand-up special, which was titled “John Pinette: They Call Me Slim.”
