Fox Developing Show About Couples Switching Partners

Fox is getting ready to tinker with people's relationships again and put the results on the air — much as it did with the attention-getting reality show "Temptation Island."

Deadline.com reports that the broadcast network is in talks to give a pilot order to “Couples Retreat,” a reality project that tests couples’ relationships by switching partners.

Unlike “Temptation Island,” which sought to break relationships, this show would have the aim of helping couples through the unusual method of creating a “fantasy weekend with the opposite-gender partner of a similarly matched couple,” according to the network.

The concept, which is reminiscent of swinging, is likely to “raise eyebrows,” the story notes. The project, which is now casting, is from Kinetic Content, which is run by Chris Coelen, who worked on ABC’s “Wife Swap,” according to the piece.

Fox is developing edgy reality fare under the new alternative programming chief Simon Andreae, including shows such as “Utopia,” in which strangers will be isolated and tasked to build a new society.
