FX has renewed a drama series for a third season. EW.com's Inside TV reports that the cable channel will bring back “The Americans," giving the show about undercover KGB spies 13 additional episodes.

The series stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys and is currently airing its second season, with six episodes yet to air. While the drama has been a modest ratings performer, it has picked up critical approval.

The show has averaged 3.1 million viewers this year, after adding in seven days of DVR playback.
