A television drama series has made piracy history, setting a high-water mark for online sharing. TorrentFreak reports that the latest episode of the HBO drama “Game of Thrones” had more than 193,000 people sharing a single copy Monday, breaking the record for the most people sharing a file simultaneously.

“These are unprecedented numbers — never before have 193,418 people shared a single file simultaneously. The previous record was set last year, when the season finale of 'Game of Thrones' had 171,572 people sharing on a single tracker,” the story says.

Within one day, 1.5 million people had downloaded the episode. TorrentFreak notes: “This makes the show the likely candidate to be crowned the most-downloaded TV show at the end of the year.
