The Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun — widely known as King Tut — is getting a TV show. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that Spike TV is returning to scripted programming with a six-hour event series based on the story of King Tut.

Called “Tut,” the project will look at the life of Tutankhamun, along with what the story says is the “the turmoil, power struggles, political backstabbing, war and murder that existed during King Tut's reign as the youngest Pharaoh to rule ancient Egypt.”

The project is from Muse Entertainment, which is the studio behind the Emmy-nominated “The Kennedys” and “Pillars of the Earth.” “Tut” will debut in 2015.

The order comes as Spike  TV has been developing other event series as it seeks to re-enter scripted programming, and as miniseries are rising in popularity on both cable and broadcast, the piece adds.
