The CBS drama series “Madam Secretary,” scheduled to debut this fall, has added an Emmy-winning actor to the lineup. Deadline.com reports that character actor Zeljko Ivanek will take on a regular role on the series, following a guest spot in the show’s pilot.

The drama stars Tea Leoni as a newly appointed Secretary of State, while Ivanek will portray the president’s chief of staff, Russell Jackson, who is described as “intimidating and opinionated.” The project is written by Barbara Hall and executive produced by Morgan Freeman.

Ivanek won an Emmy for his role as Ray Fiske on the FX legal thriller “Damages.”
