An animated series aimed at children and airing on a cable network also aimed at children has given a renewal to a program that unexpectedly attracted a following among grown-ups.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that The Hub renewed “My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic” for a fifth season.

The show will air another 26-episode season next year on The Hub, which is the kid-centric cable network from Hasbro and Discovery Communications. The series recently received attention from a documentary called “Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony,” a project funded on Kickstarter that focused on the show’s adult male fan base.
