CNN has named a new political director, TVNewser.com reports. The cable news channel's Washington Bureau chief, Sam Feist, announced that producer David Chalian was promoted to the position.
Chalian replaces Mark Preston, who was promoted to executive editor of CNN Politics last month, the website reports. Chalian joined CNN last year as supervising producer on “Crossfire.”
Previously, Chalian was vice president of video programming at Politico, and Washington Bureau Chief for Yahoo News. He was fired by Yahoo after he made a negative comment about Mitt Romney and the Republican Party, which was caught on microphone, the piece adds.
