Fox Wins Monday Prime Time; How Did ABC’s Hillary Special Do?

Fox took a narrow win in prime time Monday night, based on Nielsen overnights for the key 18-49 demo, while ABC's Hillary Clinton special failed to generate much interest.

TVbytheNumbers.com reports that the ABC News special "Hillary Clinton: Public and Private — One on One with Diane Sawyer" delivered a soft 1.0 average rating in viewers 18-49 as ABC finished in a tie for fourth place among the broadcast networks, trailing Fox, NBC and Univision.

ABC's "Mistresses" fell 25% from last week's premiere, settling for a 0.9 average in the 18-49 demo, the same number delivered by the network's "Bachelorette" clip show.

Fox won the night by a slim margin over NBC, as both "MasterChef" and "24: Live Another Day" were down. "24" had the better number of the two shows, a 1.6 average in 18-49, slipping 11% from last week. "MasterChef" fell 12% to a 1.5.

Second-place NBC opened prime time with a "Last Comic Standing" repeat (1.1 average in 18-49), then saw its two-hour "American Ninja Warrior" fall two-tenths from last week to settle for a 1.7. "Ninja" wound up as the top show of the night on broadcast in the demo.

CBS aired mostly reruns, with its one fresh program, "48 Hours," falling 25% from last week to a 0.9 average in viewers 18-49.

For prime time overall, Fox's 1.6 average led the 18-49 demo, followed by NBC (1.5 average), Univision (1.1) and ABC and CBS (both 1.0). Fox also eked out a win in total viewers, averaging 5.5 million to finish ahead of CBS (5.2 million), NBC (4.6 million), ABC (4.5 million) and Univision (2.7 million).
