A movie about the life of R&B singer Aaliyah, who died in a plane crash in 2001 at the age of 22, is in the works at Lifetime, reports TheWrap.com. The project will star singer Zendaya in the main role, the story reports.

The film has the working title “Aaliyah: Princess of R&B,” and is based on the book “Aaliyah: More Than a Woman,” by Christopher Farley, a former Time music editor. Zendaya will record four Aaliyah songs for the film.

Zendaya, 17, is known for her role as Rocky Blue on the Disney Channel series "Shake It Up." Her debut album "Zendaya" came out in 2013, with the single "Replay" becoming a Top 40 hit.
