CNN is in discussions with Reza Aslan, a religious scholar who wrote “Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth,” for a new series, reports Politico.
“We are in negotiations with Reza Aslan for a potential series on CNN," CNN spokeswoman Allison Gollust said. She declined to provide more details.
On Twitter, Aslan confirmed that he has sold a show to CNN, but said he wasn’t ready to announce the details “until [the] deal is inked.”
Aslan drew attention last year when a Fox News interview confronted him about his right to write about Jesus, which prompted Aslan to accuse the network of having an anti-Muslim bias.
Aslan is quoted as saying in an interview with MSNBC's Alex Wagner: "I watch Fox News, and anyone who watches Fox News knows that they have an inherent anti-Muslim bias in their reporting and have for quite some time. It's very successful for them. I don't actually blame them for it. They're a commercial enterprise. They know how to sell a product and, frankly, fear sells a product."
