First Novel From ‘Gone Girl’ Author Is Being Turned Into a TV Project

“Sharp Objects,” the first novel from “Gone Girl” author Gillian Flynn, is being developed as a serialized drama for Entertainment One Television, reports EW.com’s Inside TV.

The TV project comes as a movie based on “Gone Girl” is slated to open in theaters later this year.

“Sharp Objects” is about a reporter who leaves a mental hospital, only to be assigned a story that involves the murder of two preteen girls in her home town. She returns to her old room and family, and needs to confront her own past to cover the story, the piece adds.

Flynn will executive produce, with Marti Noxon of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” writing the script and serving as showrunner.
