As “The View” reportedly negotiates with Rosie O’Donnell to return to the show, she allegedly is stipulating that no reality stars can join as co-hosts, reports the New York Post’s Page Six.
O’Donnell also reportedly wants what the publication calls a “one-year, seven-figure deal” to rejoin the show, and the right to approve other co-hosts. “The View” recently parted ways with co-hosts Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy.
“The deal would bring O’Donnell back after a rocky exit in 2007 after just one season,” the story notes. “During her tenure, the strong-willed co-host feuded with Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who is now a Fox News host. Show co-creator Barbara Walters, who stepped down in May, welcomed O’Donnell back to the program for a guest appearance in February.”
About that reported stipulation by O'Donnell for no reality stars as co-hosts … we have to ask: Is it just a coincidence that Hasselbeck rose to prominence on the reality show "Survivor" before becoming a fixture on "The View"?
