VH1 has announced the renewal of a drama series. Deadline.com reports that the cable channel gave a 10-episode order for a third season of the cheerleader soap “Hit the Floor.”

The ensemble series about the Los Angeles Devils Girls cheer squad, a fictional group, is the top ad-supported scripted drama on cable with women 18-49, the piece notes. Dean Cain and Kimberly Elise are among the stars of the show.

The renewal comes two weeks before the show’s second-season finale. The third season will premiere in May 2015.

“‘Hit The Floor’ delivered again with fantastic ratings and social media engagement in season two, especially among women,” said Susan Levison, executive vice president of original programming and production at VH1. “We look forward to seeing what kind of trouble the Devil Girls will get into next season.”
