Amazon Developing Biblical Drama

Aug 15, 2014  •  Post A Comment

Amazon Studios is working on a biblical drama called “Promised Land,” which will tell the story of the book of Joshua, The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports.

The project will focus on two brothers, one a soldier and the other higher class, while the tribes of Israel struggle following the death of Moses. “‘Promised Land’ will look at how Joshua became the leader of the Jews and the Israelites became a nation,” the story notes.

Noah Oppenheim of “The Maze Runner” and Chris Bremner are set to write and executive produce, along with Adam Sher, the former chief executive of Ryan Seacrest Productions.

If it goes to pilot, the project will join other Amazon productions such as “Red Oaks,” from Steven Soderbergh, and Whit Stillman’s “The Cosmopolitans.”
