An agreement for the much talked-about new Bill Cosby project on NBC has been reached, with NBC and Sony Pictures TV closing a deal, reports Nellie Andreeva at Deadline.com.
The project will be produced by Sony Pictures TV and written by Mike O’Malley, after Cosby and executive producer Tom Werner opted for a concept created by the writer, the story adds.
“Werner and Cosby will executive produce the yet untitled NBC comedy, which has a script commitment with a big penalty to Cosby if the project doesn’t go to pilot,” Andreeva writes.
She notes: “The project, eyed for summer or fall 2015, stars Cosby as Jonathan Franklin, a patriarch of a multi-generational family who shares his many years of wit, wisdom and experience to help his daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren navigate their complicated modern lives.”
O’Malley might play one of the sons-in-laws, the piece adds.
