Showtime announced renewals for two of its most critically acclaimed drama series. The Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker reports that the pay cabler ordered third seasons for both “Masters of Sex” and “Ray Donovan.”

Both shows are in the midst of their second seasons. With the renewals, the dramas will start production on their third seasons in early 2015, with plans to air the new episodes starting later in the year.

“Masters of Sex” has earned Lizzy Caplan, who plays sex researcher Virginia Johnson, an Emmy nomination for outstanding lead actress. Allison Janney won an Emmy nomination for her guest role on the show, which is averaging 4 million viewers per episode.

On “Ray Donovan,” Liev Schreiber received a Golden Globe nomination last year for his role as a fixer for a Los Angeles law firm. Jon Voight, who plays his character’s dad, has an Emmy nomination for his role on the show, which is drawing about 5 million viewers per episode.

The Emmys will be held Monday night.
