This year’s MTV Video Music Awards were lower-key — and lower-viewership — than the 2013 ceremony, when Miley Cyrus captured worldwide attention with her foam finger twerking. But Cyrus made her voice heard again this year — even while speaking through a 22-year-old homeless man.
