HBO continues to round up a high-octane cast for season two of “True Detective.” On the heels of the announcement that Colin Farrell would be one of the stars of the show, the New York Post reports that Vince Vaughn has been signed to play the show’s central antagonist.
Vaughn, of “The Wedding Crashers,” will play Frank Semyon, who finds his business empire threatened when his business partner is murdered.
As we reported earlier this month, the second season of the show cast Colin Farrell as Ray Velcoro, a detective who is damaged after suffering trauma in his personal and professional lives.
Show creator Nic Pizzolato will again write for the drama, which has additional roles to cast. Production will begin in California this fall.
Season one of the show, which featured Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, was well-received both critically and commercially, including winning five Primetime Emmys. Both McConaughey and Harrelson were nominated for outstanding lead actor in a drama series.
