TiVo Unveils New DVR That Can Hold Three Years’ Worth of TV Programming

TiVo is unveiling a new DVR that’s appropriately called TiVo Mega, as it has storage space to record 26,000 hours of programming, or three years’ worth of standard definition TV content, reports the New York Post.

The cost? $5,000, the story adds. The TiVo Mega can also stream content to mobile devices and tablets.

“That’s 12 times greater than anything else out there,” TiVo CEO Tom Rogers told the publication. “You can set the Mega to record the TiVo Top 100 movies of all time, merely by pushing a button, and still have 25,800 hours of capacity after that.”

The price tag means the product isn’t for everyone, Rogers added. The company plans to unveil the product today, Tuesday, at the home-technology trade show CEDIA in Denver, with the product going on sale early next year.
