NBC Medical Editor Reportedly Violated Ebola Quarantine

Oct 13, 2014  •  Post A Comment

The chief medical editor for NBC News is being accused of violating an Ebola quarantine. TMZ.com reports that Dr. Nancy Snyderman, who is under a 21-day quarantine, made a “secret run” to a restaurant in New Jersey.

“Several people say they spotted Snyderman last week in the back seat of her Mercedes outside the Peasant Grill near Princeton University,” the website reports. “TMZ has now confirmed … New Jersey officials have investigated and determined Snyderman was indeed in the car, and someone from the NBC crew — also under quarantine — went inside the restaurant to pick up food.”

A third crew member who is also under quarantine was also reportedly in the car.

“The lapse on the part of Snyderman and her crew was enough for the New Jersey Health Dept. to turn the voluntary 21-day quarantine into a mandatory order,” TMZ reports. “But Stephanie Carey, the local health officer in Montgomery Township where the restaurant is located, tells TMZ there is absolutely NO health risk as a result of the quarantine violation. Carey says all members of the NBC crew are asymptomatic and therefore it is impossible for someone to contract Ebola even with direct contact.”

NBC declined to comment for the story, citing privacy concerns.

  1. “I’M ON TEEVEE AND I’M A DOCTOR AND I’M IMPORTANT AND I WANT MY VEGGIE PANNINI AND I DON’T CARE ABOUT ANY PESKY QUARANTINE AND HEY CREW MEMBER RUN IN AND FETCH ME MY FOOD AND DON’T FORGET MY EXTRA DRESSING WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH”

  2. this may sound harsh but with her selfish actions, she deserves the ultimate punishment

  3. Such Behavior… from a network reporter – a medical specialist – who likes to lecture others on their risky behaviors and medical ignorance. I already hear a public apology coming, artfully crafted with a heartfelt intro by Brian Williams on how ‘even the most qualified of experts, just like the rest of us, can sometimes show poor judgement in a moment of extreme exhaustion and frustration’.

Certainly, the on-camera public apology will be followed by a pithy intro and a cross-promotion clip from last night’s Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

NBC News… “Forward to Second Place”

  4. If there was NO risk, they would not be under quarantine.

  5. What would she have reported if a Palestinian had done the same?
