Two new NBC series have received votes of confidence from the network. Deadline.com reports that NBC ordered three additional scripts apiece for “Constantine” and “Mysteries of Laura.”
The additional script order comes after “Laura” has aired three episodes, while “Constantine” will debut later this month.
“Picking up backup scripts has become a favorite tactic of the broadcast network as it is a relatively inexpensive way to buy a few extra weeks by keeping writers working on shows that executives feel have promise before the nets have to decide on a back episodic order,” the story notes.
“Laura,” which stars Debra Messing, has maintained its audience, while “Constantine” has high awareness levels for a new series, the piece adds. The latter show will debut Oct. 24.
