YouTube is considering a paid subscription model without ads, according to the streaming site’s chief executive, Susan Wojcicki, who talked about the idea at a conference Monday, the Social Times reports.
“We’re thinking about how to give users options,” Wojcicki said. “We’re early in that process, but if you look at media over time, most of them have both ads and subscription services.”
She didn’t offer additional details about the model, the story says. Wojcicki joined YouTube in February, and previously helped Google build its ad business, the story notes.
