Comedy Central Host Accuses ‘SportsCenter’ of Stealing From His Show — Let’s Roll the Tape

The host of a show that is a staple on Comedy Central is firing accusations at ESPN. The Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker reports that Daniel Tosh, the host of Comedy Central’s “Tosh.0,” is accusing ESPN’s “SportsCenter” of stealing his main weekly bit.

Tosh complained about ESPN for about five minutes during his show Tuesday night, claiming that a new “SportsCenter” feature called “Awesome Video Segment” appears to use the same format as his show, the story reports. The “SportsCenter” segment also reportedly used the catchphrase “give it another shot,” which Tosh uses in his “Web Redemption” segment.

ESPN said it will continue with the new segment on “SportsCenter.”

“This was more of an instance of us using a common phrase than it was copying his wording,” an ESPN spokesman told the publication via email. “We know that doesn’t sound like the strongest explanation yet it’s the truth.”

Tosh called the network unprofessional, and Comedy Central had no additional comment, the story notes.

Here’s the segment about ESPN from Tosh’s show, posted by Comedy Central:
