Black Friday Brings Good News for the TV Industry

Preliminary figures on Black Friday shopping showed some encouraging news for those in the television industry.

About 45 percent of shoppers between Thanksgiving Day and Cyber Monday bought or had plans to purchase consumer technology, and 37 percent of those shoppers were buying TV sets, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which cites a preliminary Consumer Electronics Association report.

The 37% figure was up from 27% last year, THR reported, attributing the increase in part to lower prices for Ultra High Definition sets. Tablet purchases were just behind TV sets, according to the report.
