November Nielsen ratings are out and a new No. 1 appears at the top of the list of the highest-rated shows on cable news.
The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that Fox News Channel’s “The Kelly File,” anchor Megyn Kelly’s year-old 9 p.m. show, has claimed the top spot in the key news demo of adults 25-54 for the first time for an entire month.
The show had a 5% edge over “The O’Reilly Factor,” which has long been cable news’ top show, THR reports. O’Reilly’s show did remain the leader in total viewers, however, with 3 million to Kelly’s 2.7 million.
Fox News, as usual, was the top news channel for the month, but THR notes that CNN made impressive year-over-year gains. CNN was “up double digits by all measures and improved a whopping 72 percent in the key demo during prime time,” THR reports.
The month was a busy news time, with the midterm elections, unrest in Ferguson, Mo., and President Obama’s executive action on immigration.
