Botched Plan or Botched Reporting? For Now, At Least, Rosie Perez is Staying on ‘The View’

A reported plan to fire co-host Rosie Perez of the ABC daytime talk staple “The View” never happened, according to a spokesperson for the network quoted by Variety.

The publication reported back on Jan. 14 that Rosie Perez was headed out after just four months on the show, and now reports that ABC “botched” the plan and is standing behind Perez after the original story “created pandemonium backstage at ‘The View.'”

The latest piece quotes an ABC spokesperson saying: “These unnamed sources are wrong. As was always the plan, the amazingly talented Rosie Perez took time off to rehearse for her Broadway play. We’re eagerly looking forward to having her back on February 3rd. Any speculation to the contrary is simply untrue.”

Variety adds: “According to a source familiar with ABC execs’ thinking, fear of ‘an Ann Curry situation’ — a reference to NBC’s botched firing of the ‘Today’ anchor in 2012 — led executives to reverse course and keep Perez on the network’s 11 a.m. talk show for now.”the-view-logo

  1. Please fire her. HORRIBLE when you disagree with her she just screams at the top of lungs to over power you. Worst view cast ever the only one who needs to stay is NIcole.
