Boxing Legend Oscar De La Hoya, who has won ten world titles, is starting a TV channel called De La Hoya TV.

It will be “a Spanish-language sports and lifestyle channel aimed primarily at Hispanic men who follow boxing and other combat sports,” writes our good friend Joe Flint in the Wall St. Journal.

Flint adds, “The network will be offered to distributors as a free video-on-demand service starting in the spring before transitioning to a traditional channel with a subscriber fee.”

Cynthia Littleton, Variety’s managing editor for TV, writes that De La Hoya “has partnered with Mexican boxing mogul Pepe Gomez to launch” the channel, which will officially be called De La Hoya TV: Beyond Boxing. Littleton adds that “De la Hoya made the announcement Tuesday night in Miami Beach at the NATPE TV programming convention.”
