The latest miniseries airing on History is pulling in numbers that, if it weren’t for the unavoidable comparisons with the channel’s megahit “Hatfields & McCoys,” would look pretty good.

Deadline.com reports: “About 3.3 million viewers signed on to the first night of History’s three-part miniseries ‘Sons of Liberty’ [Sunday] night. ‘SoL’ delivered 1.4 million adults 25-54 and 1.2 million adults 18-49 at 9 p.m., according to Fast Cable Nielsen Ratings.”

In contrast, “Hatfields & McCoys” delivered 13.9 million total viewers, the report notes, along with 5.8 million adults 25-54 and 4.8 million adults 18-49 when it premiered back in May 2012, becoming the top-rated nonsports telecast ever on basic cable, the report notes.

History followed up on “Hatfields” with an audience of 13.1 million total viewers for “The Bible” in March 2013.
