Longest Running Reality-Competition Series on TV Returns Wednesday, Feb. 25th

It’s a show celebrating its 30th season in 15 years. It’s been nominated for 52 Emmys. There have been 442 contestants on the show thus far. There have been 445 episodes and one host.

The show is CBS’s “Survivor,” which returns for its season 30 premiere on Wednesday, Feb. 25th, 2015.

Some other “Survivor” stats, courtesy CBS: The show has filmed in 17 countries. 25,569 cups of rice have been consumed. There have been 11 medical evaluations. There’s only been one Rudy Boesch, who played twice – including season one — and who remains the oldest person (76 years old) to ever play the game.

Eighty-eight cameras are used each season, and the camera crews have shot more than 87,000 hours of footage over the past 15 years. To see all of that footage in one sitting would take just about 10 years.

It has indeed outwitted, outplayed and outlasted most shows on TV.
