CBS Renews Two Sitcoms

Mar 12, 2015  •  Post A Comment

CBS has given renewals to two of its comedy series, although the news broke via social media ahead of any confirmation by the network, according to a report in Variety.

The Chuck Lorre shows “Mom” and “Mike & Molly” received early pickups, according to the report.

Warner Bros. TV, the producer of both sitcoms, declined to comment, as did CBS, Variety reports.

The shows are expected back in fall 2015, with “Mike & Molly” heading into its sixth season and “Mom” starting season three.

Variety notes: “’Mom’ has growing critical buzz, and Allison Janney’s Emmy win last year for her work in season one likely sealed the deal. ‘Mike & Molly,’ which stars Melissa McCarthy and Billy Gardell, has been a utility player for the Eye, although there are questions about how long McCarthy will stick with the show once her current deal expires as her film career continues to blossom.”
