Along with an unusually high ratio of upsets and 1-point games on the first full day of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship, the tournament got off to a record start in the ratings Thursday.

Turner Sports and CBS Sports announced that their coverage of the basketball action delivered the highest overnight rating ever for the first Thursday of the tournament. Programming was carried on CBS, TBS, TNT and truTV.

The programming scored a 6.6 overnight rating in Nielsen metered markets, up 10% from last year. The five games that were decided by a single point made NCAA Tournament history, according to the announcement.

The programmers also reported that NCAA March Madness Live delivered a record-setting first Thursday with 22 million live video streams.
