Sunday’s premiere of “A.D. The Bible Continues” on NBC brought viewer numbers that, while not exactly a flood of biblical proportions, were good enough to win the night in key metrics.

NBC announced that the program was No. 1 among the big four broadcast networks in “every key measure — adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers.”

Based on Nielsen fast affiliate data for “Live+Same Day,” the broadcast delivered a 2.3 average rating/7 share in 18-49, with 9.5 million viewers overall, from 9-10 p.m. ET.

The network said the broadcast was its highest-rated drama debut without a “Voice” lead-in in four years in the 18-49 demo — since “The Cape” on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, with a 2.6.

The program also doubled NBC’s average numbers in the time slot with originals during the past five weeks, NBC noted in its announcement.

“’A.D. The Bible Continues’ is up +53% versus last year’s ‘Believe’ regular-slot debut in the time period (1.5 on March 16, 2014) and up +109% versus NBC’s slot average with originals over the last five weeks (2.3 vs. 1.1),” the network noted, adding: “’A.D. The Bible Continues’ built by +130% on its 18-49 lead-in (2.3 vs. 1.0).”
