The author behind HBO’s thriving fantasy series “Game of Thrones” has a new series in development at the pay-cable channel. Entertainment Weekly reports that George R.R. Martin is working on a project called “Captain Cosmos.”

“We can exclusively reveal that the author is developing a new series at HBO called ‘Captain Cosmos,'” EW reports. “The pitch: ‘At the dawn of the age of TV in 1949, a visionary young writer creates a science fiction series that tells stories no one else will dare to tell.’ The pilot is being written by Michael Cassutt (‘Z Nation’).”

The Los Angeles Times reports that Michael Cassutt will write the first episode.

“The series would be the second collaboration between Martin and HBO,” the Times adds. “Martin’s ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ books form the basis of the hit show ‘Game of Thrones.’ The fifth season of that series starts on April 12.”
