‘Gorgeous Morons’ Among the New Shows Greenlighted by ABC Family

ABC Family is giving the go-ahead to some new original programs, including “Gorgeous Morons,” a multicamera half-hour sitcom from Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky (“The Office,” “Bad Teacher,” “Hello Ladies,” “Trophy Wife”), and former “The Office” head writer Danny Chun.

The comedy “focuses on two stunningly handsome but ridiculously simple brothers — one is a model, the other a personal trainer — who find their lives rocked by their brainy new roommate, a female literature PhD whose looks are, by their standards, in desperate need of help,” the network says in its announcement. ABC has greenlighted the pilot.

Also getting the green light for a pilot is “Beyond,” a drama from “Heroes” creator Tim Kring about a man who wakes up after 12 years in a coma and finds he has supernatural abilities.

“These two pilot greenlights come hot off the heels of the network picking up saga series ‘Shadowhunters’ and single-camera comedy ‘Kevin From Work’ to series,” the announcement notes.

Said Karey Burke, Executive Vice President, Programming and Development, for ABC Family: “Quality comedies and epic adventures are key elements of our programming strategy. The teams behind these pilots have a history of creating amazing series in those genres, and I am thrilled to have them creating for ABC Family.”

  1. If you can’t come up with your own ideas, just tweak somebody else’s. This sounds like a Bizarro version of Big Bang Theory.
