In a piece of not-very-surprising news, Netflix has announced that it will bring back its acclaimed and wildly popular drama series “House of Cards” for a fourth season.
The streaming service took to Twitter to break the news, noting that season four will roll out in 2016.
The high-profile political drama, toplined by Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, has helped legitimize not just Netflix, but alternative TV distribution platforms as a whole. A milestone was the show’s nomination for a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series in 2013 — one of nine nominations for the series that year.
The series received another 11 Emmy nods in 2014, and has taken home a total of four Emmys, including wins for Cinematography, Directing and Casting in 2013.
