ABC reports that its overnight ratings for an NBA playoff game aired Sunday were the third-highest in history for the opening game of a first-round series.
The network’s coverage of the Cleveland-Boston opener, in which the Cavaliers dispatched the Celtics 113-100, delivered a 4.5 overnight rating, based on Nielsen figures. That number was up 13% over the comparable game a year ago, when Miami vs. Charlotte delivered a 4.0.
The Cleveland-Boston game pulled in a 20.9 rating in Cleveland and a 7.5 in Boston.
