The oldest awards in electronic media have locked in plans for the telecast focusing on this year’s ceremony.

“The 74th Annual Peabody Awards on Pivot” will air as a 90-minute special Sunday, June 21, at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT on Participant Media’s Pivot TV network.

The program will be produced by Den of Thieves (“MTV Music Video Awards,” “American Idol,” “VH1 Divas,” “Critics Choice Movie Awards”) and will combine the best of the May 31 New York awards ceremony with red carpet action, hosted by actor-producer-writer Fred Armisen, and features on many of the winners.

The Peabodys, based at the University of Georgia’s College of Journalism and Mass Communication, recognize excellence and meritorious work by radio and television stations, networks, webcasters, podcasters, producing organizations and individuals. The 18-member Peabody Board of Jurors is a distinguished panel of television critics, industry practitioners, scholars and experts in culture and the arts.

First awarded in 1940, the Peabody Awards are named after philanthropist and businessman George Peabody.

Pivot is distributed to more than 47 million U.S. homes via cable, and also offers live and on-demand streaming through the downloadable Pivot app.
