ABC Decides Fate of the One Show It Left Off the List When It Announced 22 Renewals Last Week

When ABC announced a massive batch of programming moves last Thursday, one show was conspicuously absent from the list of renewals. Now the network has taken care of that last bit of business, announcing a renewal for “Last Man Standing.”

The network’s big news day last week included 22 renewals and four cancellations, along with the additions of six new drama series and three new comedies to the prime-time lineup — not to mention the release of the first new photo for the network’s “Muppets” reboot.

The Los Angeles Times reports that ABC confirmed Sunday it is picking up the Tim Allen sitcom for what will be the fifth season of “Last Man Standing.” The announcement puts to rest talk of cancellation that began swirling when the show was left out of the announcement last Thursday.

“Ultimately ABC was able to clinch a deal with 20th Century Fox Television, the studio behind the series, that enabled ‘Last Man’ to get another round,” the Times reports.
