The Disney-ABC Television Group and Univision Communications are upping the ante for their joint venture Fusion, pumping $30 million in new funding into the multiplatform pop culture outlet, the New York Post reports.
“The 19-month-old TV, streaming and online news outfit, which is in 40 million homes, was initially aimed at English-speaking Latinos but now is looking to broaden its audience,” the story reports. “The Doral, Fla., company has been on a hiring binge of late and is aiming to expand its digital reach with fresh content, according to a presentation document prepared for the fundraising.”
Fusion declined to comment for the story, according to the Post.
The document reportedly indicates that Fusion had 5 million unique online visitors during the month of April, up 130% since December, with 68% of its traffic from mobile devices.
