Bill O’Reilly is denying a report that surfaced Monday that alleges the Fox News Channel host physically abused his ex-wife.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, O’Reilly issued a statement to the publication reading: “All allegations against me in these circumstances are 100 percent false.”
The statement, released through O’Reilly’s attorney, follows a report that surfaced in Gawker, which reported alleged details of a custody fight between O’Reilly and Maureen McPhilmy, his ex-wife.
The Gawker report is quoted by THR saying: “A court-appointed forensic examiner testified at a closed hearing that O’Reilly’s daughter claimed to have witnessed her father dragging McPhilmy down a staircase by her neck, apparently unaware that the daughter was watching.” The incident is said to date back before the couple separated in 2010.
Through his attorney, O’Reilly reportedly said: “I am going to respect the court-mandated confidentiality put in place to protect my children and will not comment any further.”
