‘The View’ Names New Co-Host — Actress, Model and Producer Joins the Panel ‘Effective Immediately’

ABC has moved a familiar TV face into the open slot on the daytime talk show “The View.” The network announced that actress, model, singer and TV producer Raven-Symone is joining the panel “effective immediately.”

Raven-Symone will be a co-host alongside moderator Whoopi Goldberg and co-hosts Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez.

Raven-Symone, who became a star playing the role of Olivia on “The Cosby Show” starting in 1989, said: “The Disney Company has made another one of my dreams come true! Being a part of ‘The View’ family will be a wonderful growing experience for me. The cast and crew are warm and welcoming and has made the transition into daytime talk easier. I have a lot to learn within this new arena, but being the apprentice of these spectacular women will only make me a better person and talk show host.”

Raven-Symone, who also starred in Disney Channel’s “That’s So Raven,” has done a number of guest-hosting spots on “The View.” The rumor surfaced last month that she would be joining the show on a permanent basis, replacing Rosie O’Donnell. But the news didn’t become official until today’s announcement.
