Who’s on Top in Cable?

The ratings for cable for the week ended June 21 give a number of channels the opportunity to claim a piece of the No. 1 spot.

Citing Nielsen figures, Media Life reports that USA came in as the top cable channel in prime time in the coveted 18-49 demo, while Disney Channel claimed the No. 1 spot in total viewers.

Along with its prime-time win, Disney Channel was also No. 1 in total viewers for total day.

Fox News Channel held down its usual top position among cable news channels, placing fourth overall in prime time in total viewers and fifth overall in total day.

The top five cable nets for the week in prime time in the 18-49 demo, in order, were: USA, TBS, Discovery Channel, Adult Swim and HGTV.

The top in total viewers in prime time were: Disney Channel, TNT, HGTV, Fox News Channel and USA.

Disney Channel led the way in total viewers for total day, followed by Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Adult Swim and Fox News Channel.

Here are the top five cable news networks in prime time, based on total viewers: Fox News Channel, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC and HLN.
