There Have Been No New Episodes in Five Years. Still, Cable Network Will Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of This Fan Favorite Series

We are fast approaching the 25th Anniversary of one of the most popular TV series ever. No new episodes have been made since 2010, and none of the main characters stayed on the show for its entire 20-year run … though with 17 years, S. Epatha Merkerson came close.

The series is “Law and Order,” and WE tv has announced its “Birthday Bash” kicks off with “Law & Order 25th Anniversary Binge-A-Thon,” a two-night marathon with fan-favorite episodes July 28 and 29

“WE tv is getting a jump start on the milestone 25th anniversary of ‘Law & Order,’ the popular criminal procedural that paved the way for the drama genre with a month-long celebration in August,” the network announced. “The festivities begin with a two-night marathon on Tuesday, July 28, and Wednesday, July 29, beginning at 8 pm ET, featuring the best episodes from the series, including never-before-seen bonus footage, behind-the-scenes extras and more. The party continues all month with ‘Law & Order’ blocks three nights a week — Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays — from 5 pm-11 pm.”

In addition, fans of the hit series can indulge in their guilty pleasure online at www.WETV.com for an immersive experience with themed quizzes and articles — from the “Top 25 Law & Order Moments” to “Which Law & Order Cast Member Are You?”

  1. Doink-doink.

  2. “Law & Order: SVU”, one of the spin-offs of “Law & Order”, is still making new episodes–to carry on the “Law & Order” legacy.

  3. I’d stopped watching the L&O not long after Jerry Orbach’s death, so it’s been nearly a decade. I’ve started watching the reruns on cable about a month ago. I’m astounded how well the show holds up. The superb writing, editing and performances still elevate this show above all but the very best on TV today. It’s remarkable that the producers let the show talk UP to its audience, as if we were actually smart enough to follow along. How refreshing (especially these days). Thanks for that, folks.
