As the ABC talk mainstay “The View” scrambles to reclaim its former stature, the show has pulled what’s being described as a surprise move — reaching into its past for some high-profile help. Variety reports that the daytime show is bringing back former co-host Joy Behar for the upcoming 19th season as part of what the report calls a “massive overhaul.”

“’Full House’ star Candace Cameron Bure will also join Whoopi Goldberg at the table, along with Paula Faris, Michelle Collins and Raven Symone,” Variety reports. “The show will also move to a live format five days a week rather than offering a taped installment on Fridays.”

Among the contributors who will also be a part of the rotation are Padma Lakshmi, Stacy London, Ana Navarro, Sherri Shepherd — who is also a former “View” co-host — and Molly Sims.

“Behar’s return is said to have come at the behest of ‘View’ creator-exec producer Barbara Walters,” Variety notes.

The report adds: “Walters is said to have been dismayed by the non-stop drama that has enveloped the show this season. In announcing the new lineup, ABC included a seal-of-approval quote from Walters.”

In the announcement, Walters says: “As ‘The View’ embarks on a remarkable 19th season, I am extremely proud to see the legacy of smart and diverse women engaging in entertaining and thought-provoking conversation continue.”

  1. Joy is the only reason I’ll be watching…the other hosts are boring.
