The fatal shooting of two news staffers at WDBJ-TV in Virginia has sparked schedule changes at TV outlets, with the latest being IFC’s decision to reschedule an episode of its freshman satire series “Documentary Now!”
The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports: “The episode, titled ‘Dronez: The Hunt for El Chingon,’ follows courageous journalists who travel to Mexico to track down a drug lord. During the episode, reporters are killed, which is why IFC is pushing back the airdate.”
The episode was scheduled to air Thursday night. In its place, IFC reportedly aired an episode called “Kunuk.” The “Dronez” episode was rescheduled for Sept. 3.
The move follows the killings of reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward during a live feature report Wednesday near Roanoke. They were gunned down by a former WDBJ employee, Vester Lee Flanagan II, who later killed himself. Vicki Gardner, who was being interviewed by Parker at the time, was wounded in the attack.
“IFC follows in the footsteps of USA Network, which announced Wednesday its decision to push back the season finale of hacker drama ‘Mr. Robot’ one week to Sept. 2 because of similarities between the plot and Wednesday’s tragic events,” THR reports.
Do the cop shows hold up their episodes every time the news shows a black man being shot by the police?
