With Comedy Central wrapping up “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” tonight, another cable channel is jumping in to fill the void — at least for one more night.

MSNBC announced plans to premiere a special, “Jon Stewart Has Left the Building,” Friday, Aug. 7, at 9 p.m. ET. The one-hour program, produced by NBC News’ Peacock Productions, “will celebrate Jon Stewart’s 16-year run as host of Comedy Central’s ‘The Daily Show,’ highlight his top interviews and examine his influence on politics, entertainment and the news landscape,” MSNBC said in its announcement.

MSNBC regulars Rachel Maddow and the Rev. Al Sharpton will be among those reflecting on Stewart’s run on “The Daily Show.”

“Additional guests include ‘The Daily Show’ co-creator Madeleine Smithberg; former co-executive producer Stewart Bailey; former ‘The Daily Show’ correspondents Frank DeCaro, Beth Littleford and Lauren Weedman; former field producer Nick McKinney; Pulitzer Prize-winning author and presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin; HuffPost Live host Josh Zepps; and actor and Veteran Immersion Program alumnus August Dannehl,” the announcement notes.
